Certified School Nurse

Interim Lower School Nurse

Compensation: $40 to $50 per hour

Seeking a caring, organized, and experienced Interim Lower School Nurse to support the health and well-being of students in a Lower School community. This temporary position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment aligned with the school's Quaker values of care, respect, and community. The Interim Lower School Nurse works collaboratively with faculty, administrators, families, and healthcare providers to meet students' medical needs during the school day.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide daily nursing care to Lower School students, including first aid, illness assessment, and emergency response
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and school policies
• Monitor and manage chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, allergies, diabetes)
• Maintain accurate and confidential student health records
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns
• Support communicable disease prevention and health protocols
• Collaborate with teachers and administrators to ensure student safety during school activities and trips
• Participate in emergency preparedness planning and drills
• Promote a calm, reassuring presence for young children in need of care

Required Qualifications

• Active Pennsylvania Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
• Prior experience in pediatric, school nursing, or community health settings
• Strong assessment, documentation, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating within a school community
• Clear, compassionate communication style with children and adults
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain promptly)

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a school or Lower School environment
• Familiarity with health needs of elementary-aged children
• Experience working in independent or mission-driven educational settings
