No Offer Description The successful candidate will work within an interdisciplinary research environment developed at the Faculty of Philosophy in the field of epistemology, with the opportunity to collaborate with other departments at the University of Warsaw and external partners. Basic responsibilities and obligations: Research responsibilities: conducting research in the field of cognitive sciences, applying for national or international grants, presenting research findings at academic conferences, and publishing research findings in recognised journals and publications; Teaching responsibilities: delivering teaching sessions in Polish and English, in particular on the Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science degree programmes, covering, amongst other things, experimental methods in cognitive research, data analysis, statistical methods and programming in scientific research; Organisational responsibilities: participation in the Faculty’s organisational activities, including the organisation of conferences, workshops and academic seminars. Where to apply E-mail View email address on click.appcast.io Requirements Research Field Philosophy Education Level PhD or equivalent Research Field Psychological sciences Education Level PhD or equivalent Skills/Qualifications Fulfilment of the requirements set out in Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, consolidated text) A PhD in a discipline related to the cognitive sciences (e.g. philosophy, psychology or related disciplines) and a track record of research in the field of cognitive science or related disciplines; Experience in conducting research in the field of cognitive sciences, including experimental research; experience in applying neurocognitive or behavioural methods used in cognitive research (e.g. EEG, eye-tracking, VR or related methods) would be an advantage; Teaching experience involving the delivery of courses designed to develop students’ methodological and analytical skills, particularly in the areas of research methods, statistics, data analysis and programming; Fluency in Polish and English to a level sufficient to deliver teaching; Experience in interdisciplinary research. Specific Requirements An interest in the application of computational methods and artificial intelligence tools in research on cognition. The potential to conduct interdisciplinary research integrating philosophical approaches with empirical, computational and neuroscientific methods used in the cognitive sciences. More information: Eligibility criteria Candidates will be assessed on a scale of up to 100 points according to the following criteria: Academic achievements, including publications in peer-reviewed academic journals or books (max. 35 points). Research experience gained abroad, including participation in research projects, conferences, seminars and workshops (training courses), internships and other research visits (max. 20 points). Teaching experience, particularly in the fields of programming, statistics and experimental data analysis (max. 35 points). Potential for conducting research collaboration in the fields of cognitive science, philosophy or experimental linguistics, including at the interface between these disciplines (max. 10 points). The competition will be won by the candidate who obtains the highest number of points, provided this is not less than 60% of the maximum number of points. The University of Warsaw conducts the recruitment process in accordance with the principles of equal treatment and non-discrimination, whilst respecting the diversity of candidates. Selection process The competition consists of the following stages: Stage I - formal evaluation of documents, Stage II - substantive evaluation on the basis of submitted documents, Stage III - interview with selected candidates, Interviews will take place from 31 August to 4 September 2026. They will be conducted remotely (via Google Meet or Zoom, using University of Warsaw licences). The interviews will focus on the candidate’s research and teaching experience, as well as their research plans, and will be conducted in Polish. Candidates will be sent an invitation to the interview by email no later than 5 days before the proposed date. Should a candidate be unable to attend the interview on the proposed date for valid reasons, the Chair of the committee will arrange an alternative date. Failure to attend on the scheduled date may result in the candidate being excluded from the further selection process. Stage IV - final evaluation of competence, experience and scientific achievements, Stage V - adjudication of the competition and announcement of results. Documents required for the application include: Information on the processing of personal data – Attachment no. 2 (see below); A copy of the PhD degree certificate or a document certifying the progress of doctoral studies, with the degree expected to be awarded no later than the date of employment; Research plan covering the period corresponding to the expected duration of employment (24 months); the plan should be up to 5 pages in length and include: the scientific objective of the research, research hypotheses, the current state of knowledge on the subject under investigation, expected research results, their novelty and significance for the development of the scientific field, the research plan and methodology, and the key literature on the subject; Documents attesting to academic and teaching achievements (syllabuses); A copy of an academic article; Two references from independent academic staff.
