Location: Austin, TX (float role across the local area) | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, M-F 8am to 5 pm (availability for other daytime hours may be needed) | Compensation: Not specified Overview A healthcare services organization is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist for a contract position based in Austin, TX, with potential for permanent placement. This float role supports multiple locations in the Austin area and plays a key part in ensuring accurate specimen collection and patient care. The initial assignment is projected for 3 months, with potential for perm. What you'll do Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities Collect and store specimens according to established procedures Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Fully understand and follow physicians' orders Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures, using appropriate containers and labeling to maintain specimen integrity Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department training Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries Required qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, where required Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting Minimum of 1 year of experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High School Diploma or GED Clean driving record and reliable transportation Compensation and benefits Benefits are available Mileage expenses paid Why this role This position offers a 3 months contract with the potential to become permanent, along with paid mileage and available benefits for a phlebotomist ready to support patient care across multiple Austin-area locations. #J-18808-Ljbffr Software Placement Group, SPG
