Preschool Assistant

Term of Employment: Full time/10 months with benefits Salary Range: $15.45 - $16.00/hour DOE FLSA Status : Non-Exempt

Position Summary: Assists the preschool teacher with implementation of developmentally appropriate instructional activities, supervises high school students working with the children and completing various job related tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Cares for preschool children at the Little Lions Preschool located at Mountain View High School
• Participates in planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities for preschool children while incorporating Arizona Early Learning Standards
• Provides direct instruction and assistance to preschool children by implementing lesson plans
• Provides information to parents regarding classroom procedures, activities and behavior
• Follows and completes established procedures and assigned duties
• Provides direction supervision for the implementation and evaluation of high school students working with children
• Maintains compliance with DHS and Quality First regulations
• Completes annual training requirements and participates in professional development opportunities
• Assists with checking students into and out of the facility, checking for identification and parent permissions
• Maintains confidential files of enrolled children, tuition files and other clerical duties
• Provides for the physical comfort and safety of the preschool children
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or GED
• An Associate's degree or higher preferred or; at least 15 credit hours in Early Childhood Education or related field or; passing score on a skills assessment
• One year experience working with preschool children or school age children in a formal setting
• Ability to operate basic office software
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a limited basis
• Ability to perform basic accounting duties
• Methods, techniques and strategies used with preschool children
• Valid First Aid/CPR certification
• Proof of MMR immunization required unless born prior to January 1, 1957
• Negative TB skin test within the last year, Tetanus with Pertussis, Hepatitis B series
• Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or be able to obtain one
• Valid Arizona Driver's License
