About the job Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google's bottom line. As the Global Technology Manager for Silicon Test, you will lead the commercial strategy and supplier management for our global testing operations. You will be the primary architect of our test cost models, managing relationships with Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) partners and Automated Test Equipment (ATE) vendors. Your goal is to secure test capacity and technology at the total cost of ownership (TCO), ensuring our custom silicon, from AI accelerators to mobile SOCs is tested to the highest quality standards. The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $174,000-$258,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Responsibilities Lead high‑stakes negotiations for silicon test services, including hourly rates, TTR, incentives, and floor‑space agreements at global OSATs. Manage the end‑to‑end life‑cycle of customer owned tooling (testers, probers, load boards), CAPEX planning, equipment deployment to OSAT sites, and managing the depreciation impact on product margins. Develop and maintain sophisticated "Should‑Cost" models for silicon testing, analyze test times, parallel test efficiencies (multi‑site), and equipment utilization to drive down cost‑per‑unit. Serve as a global commercial lead for major OSATs and ATE vendors, conducting Business Reviews (QBRs) focusing on capacity readiness and commercial performance while acting as a bridge between test engineering and finance/sourcing to translate technical test requirements into commercial contracts. Partner with Demand Planning and NPI teams to ensure test capacity (tester units and head‑count) is locked in 12–18 months in advance of production ramps.
