Overview Professional chemist position responsible for developing and enhancing the Medical Marijuana laboratory section at the Bureau of Public Health Laboratories. Responsibilities Assist in the development, adaptation, validation, and implementation of new analytical methods for specimen potency and contamination using GC/MS, HPLC/MS, LC-MS/MS, ICP/MS, etc., and process and analyze specimens according to ISO17025 guidelines. Ensure specimens and proficiency test survey samples are analyzed and all processes are documented and reported within the laboratory information system per BPHL methods. Maintain and document daily maintenance, calibration, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of assigned instrumentation to ensure quality assurance objectives are met. Receive, log, and securely store specimens and controlled substances required for testing. Track and monitor temperatures, gases, supplies, and chemicals, reporting findings to supervisor weekly. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of terminology, principles, and techniques used in analysis and testing. Knowledge of procedures, techniques, and equipment used in lab testing and analysis. Skill in the use of laboratory equipment. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to work independently. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments. Qualifications Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferred: BS degree and one year or more experience. Other Requirements Security background check and/or drug screening. Direct deposit participation and SSN provision for background check.
