Roadside Assistance Technician / Tow Driver

Service Vehicle OperatorJoin our team as a Service Vehicle Operator and be the hero our AAA members rely on when they need help most. You'll respond to service calls, assist stranded motorists with services like jump-starts, tire changes, and lockouts, and safely tow vehicles when needed. This role combines hands-on problem solving, customer care, and safe driving, all while working independently on the road. If you enjoy helping people, staying active, and making a real difference each day, this is the job for you.Location Details: Fort Myers, FL.Must be available to work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime based on business needs and member demand.Key Responsibilities:Respond to roadside assistance requests from AAA members using a tow truck or service vehicle.Provide emergency roadside services, including tire changes, fuel delivery, battery testing and installation, jump starts, lockout assistance, and minor mechanical adjustments.Safely tow disabled vehicles following established procedures and towing guidelines.Verify AAA membership and deliver outstanding customer service during every interaction.Complete pre-trip and post-trip DOT inspections and report vehicle maintenance concerns.Maintain a clean and professional service vehicle.Utilize tablets and electronic devices to manage calls, update service requests, and access towing procedures.Accurately document daily activities, service calls, vehicle logs, and receipts.Maintain DOT certification and an acceptable driving record.Achieve goals related to member satisfaction, safety, productivity, and battery services.Support community and special AAA events as needed.Qualifications:RequiredHigh school diploma or GED.Valid state driver's license with minimal driving infractions/incidents.Must successfully pass drug screening, motor vehicle record review, criminal background check, and DOT physical examination. (pre-employment and ongoing).Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally.Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.Comfortable using GPS, mobile technology, tablets, and electronic applications.Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 75 pounds.Ability to read and interpret roadside service procedures and member benefits.Basic math and recordkeeping skills.Ability to successfully complete AAA training programs.Commitment to safety and teamwork.If employed in Illinois, possession of a valid Illinois C-Non CDL driver's license is requiredPreferredPrior experience providing roadside assistance services such as battery testing, jump starts, lockout assistance, fuel delivery, or tire changes.Previous tow truck driving experience.Experience operating wheel-lift, flatbed, or dolly towing equipment.Commercial driving experience.Automotive knowledge or mechanical aptitudeMust be 21 years of age or older.Work Environment:This is a highly active, field-based position providing roadside service directly to AAA members. Employees spend up to 95% of their time outdoors and on the road, working in varying weather conditions and around traffic environments. Less than 5% of the role is performed in a traditional office setting. Safety is always the top priority, and team members are provided training and resources to perform their duties successfully.Compensation & Benefits Overview:ACG complies with all applicable state and local laws regarding required benefits (including PTO, paid sick leave, etc.).CompensationHourly rates starting at $21.50 per hour (rate may vary by location and experience).Overtime opportunities paid at time-and-a-half.Shift differentials: 5% premium for hours worked between 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM/10% premium for hours worked between 11:00 PM - 5:00 AM$1,000 Sign-On Bonus, paid in installments at 90 and 180 days of employment. **To qualify for the Sign-On Bonus, applicants must be new to ACG.
