Chief Engineer

A thriving property management company is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to partner with the Property Manager in overseeing mechanical operations, maintenance, energy management, and employee development for a 300,000-square-foot LEED Gold commercial facility in Washington, DC. This is a great opportunity for a hands‑on technical leader who takes pride in keeping a high‑performing building running smoothly and safely. What You’ll Do Partner with the Property Manager to fulfill all duties and responsibilities required under the contract and any applicable collective bargaining agreement Perform work across all trades required by the contract, as directed by the Property Manager Supervise, plan, schedule, and assign work activities for personnel maintaining and repairing the facility’s electrical, mechanical, structural, and nonstructural systems Inspect completed work to ensure conformance with quality standards Perform additional duties as assigned by the Property Manager Oversee and perform facility inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting on conditions impacting operations Lead the team in responding effectively to emergencies; participate in 24/7 on‑call rotation Prepare and submit Management Summary Reports detailing conditions found and recommending appropriate actions Maintain compliance with all safety procedures and good housekeeping practices; identify hazards and recommend corrective action Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable District, County, and City ordinances, codes, and laws What We’re Looking For Five years of facility operations and maintenance experience within the last ten years, including at least five years supervising technicians on similar systems Minimum of three years of hands‑on experience operating a DDC system (documentation required) Proven verbal and written communication skills Proficiency in Excel and Word Strong ability to build relationships with team members, tenants, contractors, and vendors Self‑directed and proactive approach to work Reliable and dependable Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and maintain attention to detail Adaptable to change within the organization and evolving client needs Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and utility systems, as well as maintenance, repair, and cleaning functions Education & Certifications HVAC certification required 3rd Class Engineer’s license issued by the District of Columbia required Valid driver's license required and must be maintained Ability to respond to after‑hours calls or emails as needed What We Offer Competitive base salary up to $100,000, commensurate with experience Strong bonus potential, up to 10% of salary Short‑and long‑term disability coverage 401(k) plan Paid holidays and paid time off Company‑paid insurance premiums A background check is required for this position. #J-18808-Ljbffr MBB Affiliates, LLC
