MEDICAL ASSISTANT

Medical AssistantUnion General Hospital Clinics is looking for a Medical Assistant. The role involves assisting providers with evaluation, examination, and treatment of patients and all follow up duties related to patient care.The responsibilities include:Daily:Reviewing schedule of upcoming appointments to ensure charts are prepped and include necessary documents such as required labs, x-rays, medication list, consults, etc.Calling and assisting patients from waiting area to back office for triage which includes but is not limited to: weight, height, blood pressure, vision, hearing, pulse ox, EKG, labs, UA, question intake, medication review, etc.Reporting any STAT findings to providerAnswering phone calls, emails, voicemails and returning patient calls in a timely and efficient manner. Documenting all telephone conversations with patients and family membersScheduling referrals and outpatient testing and contacting the patient with the information pertaining to said appointment.Managing medication refill requests as per clinical guidelinesAssisting with any procedures the provider needs.Cleaning and sanitizing exam rooms after every patient.Drawing labs and performing point of service testing on patients as per provider orders. Following up on all tests performed providing results timely to ordering provider.Administering injections as per provider orders documenting administration as per clinical guidelinesAbide by and promote HIPAA compliance; maintain strictest confidentiality with regards to patient information.Performing emergency life-saving procedures if necessaryMonthly:Assist with maintaining drug closet as assignedAssist with maintaining items in office are stocked up as assignedPerform monthly calibration checks on required equipment and logParticipates in staff meetings as directed by the Practice ManagerOther duties and/or special projects as assignedRequired education, skills & experience:Two years' experience as a Medical Assistant within family practice or specialty, preferred. CPR certification required.Additional skills and experience:Possesses the ability to deal with patients, visitors, co-workers, and physicians with courtesy and respectDisplays a professional outgoing warm and helpful attitudeNeat and professional appearancePossesses compassion for dealing with people who are ill and need helpPlan, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks as delegated by the Practice ManagerWork under pressure; assess, respond, and communicate issues in a timely mannerCommunicate clearly with patients and coworkers through the telephone, email, and in-personInterpret and apply clinical and non-clinical policies and proceduresMaintains Certification for Medical Assisting as required by accrediting organizationOccupational exposure:Frequent exposure to blood and body fluidsFrequent exposure to hazardous materialExposure to communicable diseaseAppropriate protective equipment will be readily available and providedPhysical/mental/environmental demands:Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment; spends 95% or more of time inside.
