Position Title: Senior Accountant

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the Company's day-to-day accounting operations, customer billing, project cost accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting functions.

This is a hands-on accounting position that requires active involvement in daily accounting activities, including customer invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, project costing, reconciliations, and financial analysis.

The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer, management, and various departments to ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded, projects are properly accounted for, and management receives timely and reliable financial information.

This position will also assist in improving accounting procedures, financial reporting, and system processes as TAS continues to grow.

Essential Responsibilities

Customer Billing & Accounts Receivable

• Work with Sales, Project Management, and other departments to ensure projects are properly established and billing requirements are understood.
• Prepare and issue accurate and timely customer invoices.
• Prepare packing slips and coordinate shipments and required customer documentation.
• Obtain purchase orders, approvals, proof of delivery, and other supporting documentation required for billing.
• Submit invoices through customer portals and customer-required processes.
• Monitor outstanding invoices and follow up on rejected, disputed, or delayed payments.
• Prepare customer credits and billing adjustments as authorized.
• Process and apply customer payments, including ACH and credit card transactions.
• Assist with accounts receivable aging reviews and collection efforts.
• Identify opportunities to improve billing accuracy and efficiency.

Project Cost & Margin Accounting

• Track and review project revenue and expenses to ensure accurate job costing and profitability reporting.
• Review material, labor, subcontractor, freight, and other project-related costs.
• Identify and correct missing, duplicate, or incorrectly classified project expenses.
• Monitor project budgets, actual costs, and gross margins.
• Prepare project cost and margin analyses for management.
• Investigate significant cost or margin variances and communicate findings.
• Assist with work-in-progress (WIP) accounting and revenue recognition.
• Support project cost forecasting and financial closeout of completed projects.
• Maintain accurate project financial records.

General Accounting Operations

• Perform daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and general ledger transactions.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments.
• Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts.
• Review financial transactions for accuracy and proper classification.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with internal departments and vendors to resolve accounting and payment issues.
• Support internal controls and compliance with established accounting procedures.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

• Prepare monthly financial and project reports for management.
• Analyze revenue, expenses, project costs, gross margins, and profitability.
• Assist in identifying unusual financial trends or significant variances.
• Prepare supporting schedules and financial analyses.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and expense monitoring.
• Provide accurate and timely financial data to support management decisions.
• Help improve visibility into project costs, billing status, and overall financial performance.

Accounting Systems & Process Improvement

• Assist with the implementation and ongoing improvement of the Company's ERP and accounting systems.
• Support accounting processes within NetSuite and other operational systems.
• Ensure financial transactions are properly recorded and integrated between accounting and project management systems.
• Identify opportunities to streamline invoicing, reconciliations, project accounting, and reporting.
• Assist with developing and maintaining accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Support improvements in financial reporting accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience , preferably in a manufacturing, construction, automation, or industrial service environment.
• Strong working knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, customer invoicing, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliations.
• Experience with project accounting, job costing, inventory, or manufacturing accounting strongly preferred.
• Understanding of revenue recognition, cost accounting, gross margins, and project profitability.
• Experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, QuotePlan, Avaza, or comparable accounting/ERP systems preferred.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including financial analysis and reporting.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with other departments.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to take a hands-on approach to daily accounting responsibilities.

• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other daily accounting functions as needed.
• Improve accounting efficiency and reporting accuracy.

Position Objective

To support TAS's daily accounting operations by ensuring accurate customer billing, proper recording of project costs and revenues, timely account reconciliations, and reliable financial reporting.

The Senior Accountant will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, improving project profitability visibility, supporting accounting process improvements, and providing management with the financial information necessary to operate and grow the Company.
