Fort Mill School District 4 Alternative Program – Assistant Director Location: Oak Grove Academy, Fort Mill, South Carolina Starting Date: Jul 13, 2026 Job ID: 5769533 Job Description Position Purpose: Under the general supervision of the school principal, to assist in providing leadership, supervision, and management in administering the educational program and operation of an alternative school that promotes the educational development and achievement of all students. Essential Functions Assists the Director in developing and maintaining an effective educational program consistent with state and federal guidelines and the philosophy, policies, and goals of the district. Provides leadership in professional development and program improvement. Supports the Director in the collaborative development, implementation and ongoing refinement of the school’s continuous improvement plan. Assists the Director in transforming school culture into a collaborative, results‑oriented community of learners. Requisitions supplies, instructional materials, and equipment; conducts inventories, maintains records, and monitors receipt of such materials. Promotes a positive school environment that is safe and conducive to differentiated instruction, collaborative curriculum development, and personalized student learning. Ensures that student conduct and attendance conforms to school standards and district policies. Assists in the planning, scheduling and supervision of students in various educational programs. Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current educational trends by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research. Assists in coordinating school guidance, transportation, custodial, student nutrition, and other support services. Assists in state and local assessment coordination and works with teachers and specialists to modify instruction to fit the needs of all students. Serves as LEA for special education program services. Serves on district level curriculum and instruction committees and on parent, teacher, and student groups to advance and support educational and related objectives and activities. Encourages parental involvement and ensures effective communication with all students and parents. Supervises and evaluates teaching staff and other building employees in accordance with the school district’s evaluation plan, and makes recommendations regarding goals and improvement areas. Assisting in creating a positive school environment conducive to teaching and learning in various educational programs. Coaching and serving as a resource to staff in the areas of classroom management, student discipline, and behavior modification as well as assisting in the development of intervention and behavior plans. Additional Duties Perform other related tasks as assigned by the principal, superintendent, and other district office administrators as designated by the superintendent. Equipment Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copier and fax machines, and telephone. Travel Requirements Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of middle and high school curriculum and concepts. Knowledge of middle and high school curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessments. Knowledge of best practices in administration, program evaluation and staff supervision. Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and action plans development. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education. Knowledge of school district policies. Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed. Ability to develop and implement projects. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents. Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints. Ability to engage in self‑evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others. Ability to motivate others to reach their fullest potential. Physical and Mental Demands Work in standard office and school building environments. Education Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in administration. Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Qualifications Profile Certification/License: A minimum of three to five years teaching experience preferred; Secondary Principal Certification; Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation. Experience Successful teaching experience (3-5 years), at the middle or secondary school level. Successful experience as an administrator, specialist, instructional coach, or lead teacher preferred. Successful experience with an alternative program preferred.
