Collateral Risk Analyst

Job Title: Collateral Risk Analyst Location: Seminole, Florida Department: Finance Reports To: VP of Finance Job Type: Full-Time Position Summary We are seeking a highly analytical and proactive Collateral Risk Analyst to manage and optimize the Company’s collateral obligations across utilities, pipelines, ISOs/RTOs, suppliers, trading counterparties, and other market participants. This role will be responsible for maintaining collateral requirements below approved limits, validating counterparty calculations, identifying opportunities to reduce posted collateral, and improving available credit capacity. The ideal candidate will combine strong financial analysis with persistent counterparty follow-up and a practical understanding of credit support instruments and energy-market exposure. Key Responsibilities Monitor collateral requirements, posted balances, available credit, and exposure across all counterparties and legal entities. Maintain collateral requirements below established internal limits and promptly elevate actual or projected exceptions. Reconcile counterparty collateral calls to internal records, contractual terms, market positions, and supporting exposure calculations. Identify, quantify, and pursue opportunities to reduce or release collateral, including excess cash deposits and over-collateralized positions. Evaluate alternative forms of credit support, including letters of credit, surety bonds, parent guarantees, reserve arrangements, and unsecured credit. Engage counterparty credit and risk teams to understand calculation methodologies, challenge errors or unsupported assumptions, and negotiate reductions where appropriate. Monitor the financial, operational, contractual, and market drivers that affect collateral requirements and unsecured credit capacity. Prepare short- and medium-term collateral forecasts and scenario analyses to support liquidity planning and cash management. Maintain accurate counterparty documentation, calculation support, contact information, review schedules, and renewal or expiration dates. Prepare weekly and monthly reporting on total collateral, requirement versus posted amount, headroom to internal limits, excess collateral, upcoming needs, and reduction initiatives. Partner with Finance, Treasury, Portfolio and Risk Management, and Operations to resolve collateral matters and implement optimization strategies. Develop and improve collateral controls, procedures, dashboards, models, and automated reporting. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Risk Management, Business, or a related field. 2+ years of relevant experience in collateral management, credit risk, counterparty risk, treasury, energy finance, commodity trading support, or financial analysis. Advanced proficiency in Excel, including financial modeling, reconciliations, scenario analysis, and large-data-set management. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify calculation errors, exposure drivers, and actionable reduction opportunities. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and follow-through. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work directly with external credit and risk teams. Ability to manage multiple counterparties, deadlines, and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Attributes Experience in retail energy, wholesale power, natural gas, utilities, pipelines, ISO/RTO markets, or other commodity-based businesses. Knowledge of utility, pipeline, and ISO/RTO credit and collateral requirements. Understanding of letters of credit, surety bonds, guarantees, cash collateral, and unsecured credit arrangements. Experience reviewing exposure reports, collateral methodologies, contracts, tariffs, or credit policies. Experience with ERP, treasury, risk-management, business-intelligence, or financial-reporting systems. Persistent and professional approach to challenging requirements and negotiating favorable outcomes.
