Description Alameda County Health (ACH) provides comprehensive behavioral health services to residents of Alameda County, a diverse community of approximately one and a half million people. The Behavioral Health Department offers mental health and substance use services for people with Medi‑Cal and without insurance, supporting recovery and resilience. Position Behavioral Health ClinicianII Under general direction, Behavioral Health ClinicianIIs provide psychiatric clinical and case‑management services; conduct evaluations and assessments; provide counseling, treatment and intervention; conduct individual, group, and family psychotherapy; provide consultation to other programs and agencies on treatment needs and behavioral plans; and perform other related duties as assigned. Ideal Candidate Licensed professional experienced in psychiatric clinical and case‑management services, keeping abreast of developments in the field. Manages a high volume of cases while attending to diverse clinical care needs. Maintains confidentiality of records and demonstrates integrity in interactions with clients and colleagues. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to convey information to varied audiences. Strong problem‑solving abilities using data, logic, and sound judgment. Collaborative, works effectively in multidisciplinary teams, fostering teamwork and constructive relationships. Minimum Qualifications Experience: Six months of full‑time experience as a Behavioral Health ClinicianI or equivalent post‑licensure clinical and/or case‑management experience. Education: Master’s degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, counseling, nursing or related field from an accredited institution. License/Certification: Valid clinical license from the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, California Board of Psychology, or California Board of Registered Nursing. Other requirements: National Provider Identifier (NPI) number and Medicare enrollment for eligible clinicians, California Motor Vehicle Operator’s license if required. Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of theories, principles, and practices for services to clients with serious behavioral health needs and diagnoses. Understanding of psychological diagnostic methods, cultural and social factors, wellness and resilience strategies, dual recovery treatment, and community resources. Skill in applying laws, regulations, policies, and procedural guidelines; proficiency in office administration, record management, and standard office equipment. Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, prioritize workload, communicate effectively, analyze information, prepare reports, and work with diverse populations. Examination Components Examination steps: (1) Review of applications and supplemental questionnaires to verify minimum qualifications. (2) Placement of qualified candidates on an eligible list based on evaluation of education, training, and experience. Candidates must attain a qualifying rating on each portion of the examination.
