Clinical Social Worker, Inpatient Psychiatry Per Diem

This position will collaborate with other professionals to evaluate patients' psychiatric condition and to assess client needs as part of the interdisciplinary team. The per diem social worker works collaboratively with all healthcare team members to develop and implement treatment plans that support patient-centered plans of care for both individual patients and the medical community, and assesses and arranges discharge planning needs and post hospital follow up disposition.

Responsibilities include:

• Individual psychiatric evaluations
• Daily individual contact with assigned patients
• Leading one or more weekly social work treatment groups (as needed)
• Family outreach and counseling and psychoeducation as indicated
• Coordination with outpatient treatment team
• Assesses and arranges discharge planning needs and follow up as appropriate
• Timely completion of Treatment Plan and Discharge Summary that will satisfy clinical and regulatory requirements and arranging referrals related to aftercare as needed
• Collaborates with and provides social work consultation to other disciplines within the setting
• Participates on Departmental and Hospital committees as appropriate
• Other duties as assigned

Per diem as needed including weekdays, weekends, vacation coverage. Minimum 24 hours per month.

Qualifications:

• Master's of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program required.
• Massachusetts Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with relevant clinical experience required.
• Minimum of graduate level internship experience in relevant setting.
• Staff adheres to all C.A.R.E. Standards
• Knowledge of specific medical/psychiatric illnesses, procedures and treatments
• Excellent interpersonal skills including negotiation skills necessary to work within a team
• Ability to provide rapid clinical psychosocial and psychiatric assessments and brief, short or long term treatment/management with individuals, families, couples and/or groups, and assess discharge planning needs.
• Cultural sensitivity and demonstrated competency in age specific behaviors
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
• Knowledge of community agencies/resources. Ability to advocate/negotiate systems for/with patients to facilitate appropriate discharge planning.
• Computer skills
• CANS Certification preferred
• BLS certification preferred

Social Worker I:

Licensed Clinical Social Worker [LCSW - State License] required

Experience in a medical setting 0-2 years

Supervision towards LICSW not available for LCSWs

Social Worker II:

Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker [LICSW - State License] required

Clinical Experience in a medical setting 2-3 years required
