Gage & Tollner is looking for a warm, organized, and personable Host to join our Front of House team.

Our hosts are the first and last people many of our guests interact with, so they play a huge role in setting the tone for the whole experience. We're looking for someone who genuinely likes people, communicates confidently, notices the little things, and can keep their cool when the door gets busy.

Gage & Tollner is a landmarked Downtown Brooklyn oyster and chop house with a lot of history, a busy dining room, and a service style that's polished without feeling stuffy. We take hospitality seriously, but we also like to have fun, laugh with each other, and work with people who bring some personality to the room.

We care a lot about our team and want this to be a place where people can build something. Whenever we can, we love to promote and grow people from within. The schedule:

• Approximately 2–3 shifts per week to start
• Must be fully available for shifts Monday through Friday
• Most shifts will be weekday dinners, with occasional weekend brunch shifts available depending on business needs. Weekend availability is a plus.
• This is a part-time role, 29 hours or fewer per week, with the possibility of growing into a full-time position in the future

What we're looking for:

• Previous restaurant, hospitality, or guest-facing experience preferred
• A naturally warm and welcoming personality
• Confident, professional communication
• Excellent organization and attention to detail
• Someone who can stay friendly and focused when five things are happening at once
• Strong awareness of what's happening at the door and throughout the dining room
• Comfort using computers and reservation-management systems
• Reliability, punctuality, and a team-first attitude
• A genuine interest in hospitality and taking care of people
• Curiosity and an interest in learning, growing, and taking on more over time

What you'll do:

• Welcome guests warmly and help make a great first impression
• Manage reservations, walk-ins, waitlists, and guest information accurately
• Seat guests thoughtfully while helping maintain the flow and pacing of the dining room
• Stay in close communication with managers, Servers, and the rest of the Host team about reservations, table status, special requests, and changes
• Answer the phone and help guests with reservation questions
• Get to know the restaurant, menu, spaces, and overall guest experience so you can confidently answer questions
• Keep an eye out for birthdays, anniversaries, guest notes, and the little details that can turn a good night into a great one
• Keep the host stand and entrance organized, polished, and guest-ready
• Jump in and help the rest of the Front of House team when needed to keep service running smoothly

Physical requirements:

With or without reasonable accommodation, this position requires prolonged standing and walking, frequent use of stairs, working in a fast-paced restaurant environment, and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
