Position Summary

The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and overseeing all nursing services within the facility. Working closely with the Administrator and Regional Director of Clinical Operations, the DON ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while maintaining the highest standards of resident care, clinical excellence, and staff performance.

This leadership role is instrumental in fostering a culture of quality, compassion, and accountability to ensure our Veterans receive exceptional care and service.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for all nursing operations and clinical services.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing policies, procedures, and programs.
• Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff.
• Promote excellence in resident care through quality improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to achieve positive resident outcomes.
• Monitor staffing levels and ensure appropriate clinical coverage.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and quality assurance processes.
• Serve as a resource and advocate for residents, families, and staff.
• Foster a positive work environment focused on teamwork, communication, and resident-centered care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program.
• Current, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or management experience in a hospital, long-term care, skilled nursing, or related healthcare setting.
• Minimum of six (6) months of experience or training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to make sound, independent decisions in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to effectively interact with residents, families, healthcare professionals, government agencies, and the public.
