Description

American Traveler is seeking an Outpatient Physical Therapist with at least 1 year of experience to treat orthopedic, neuro, and post-surgical patients in an acute care hospital setting.

Details

Outpatient clinic setting within a short-term acute care hospital

Day shift schedule, 5x8 hour shifts from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Patient population includes orthopedic, neurological, gait/balance, pain management, and workers' compensation cases

Treats pre- and post-surgical patients including post-op cervical, shoulder, and spinal surgery cases

Performs manual therapy, soft tissue mobilization, instrument-guided soft tissue mobilization, therapeutic exercise, gait training, and neuro re-education

Uses Cerner for charting

Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital

Requirements

Minimum 1 year of physical therapy experience required

BLS certification required (AHA or RQI accepted)

PT license required if applicable, must be in hand prior to start date (IN or Compact license accepted)

Pending state license accepted

2 supervisor references required

Experience with orthopedic, neurological, and post-surgical rehabilitation preferred

Skilled in adaptive devices, gait training, manual therapy, and modalities such as e-stim, ultrasound, and traction

SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

Responsibilities include patient assessment, evaluation, treatment planning, and documentation of short- and long-term goals

Provides patient and family education on home exercise programs and safety/injury prevention

Must work 2 of 3 major holidays

First-time travelers are accepted

Local candidates are accepted, with Indiana residents considered local

Local candidates may be offered a lower in-state pay rate

Past IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler

Travelers who have completed 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a designated break before starting a new assignment
