Healing Center Peer Specialist- 2nd Shift

About The Job Responsible for assisting the residents in their daily activities and ensuring their safety under the direction of the Transitional Living Program Manager. The Transitional Living Peer Specialist will participate in various group activities and facilitate groups with the residents. Here’s What You’ll Be Doing Establish a healing and professional relationship with residents. Transport residents to various appointments and activities. Assist residents in identifying their own personal interests, goals, and strengths. Demonstrate understanding of ethics and boundaries. Assist residents with problem solving. Maintain resident’s records, program records and other material as required. Demonstrate the use of active listening techniques, motivational interviewing when communicating with residents. Help identify barriers to full participation in community resources and develop strategies to overcome these barriers with mental health and/or recovery. Use trauma informed care and be willing to share own personal experiences with mental health and/or recovery. Provide resources to help with residents’ needs. Provide support and advocate for clients. What You’ll Need To Be Successful Must have achieved and maintained absolute sobriety for a minimum of two (2) continuous years. High School diploma or equivalent required. Must have a valid, clean driver’s license and be at least 18 years of age. CPR certification and WI Peer Support training will be provided and is required as a condition of employment. Must successfully pass all applicable background checks and drug screens. FCP complies with all CDC vaccine and testing recommendations for healthcare professionals. Proof of immunizations is required and immunizations/testing provided upon hire. Preferred Qualifications 1 year’s work experience in halfway house, residential facility, or similar setting with AODA and mental health population preferred.
