Job Description: Title: Adjunct Instructor, Business, Entrepreneurship, Marketing (Prison Education Program) Unit: DCE Adjunct Faculty Department: Academic Affairs, Business Reports to: Dean of Business, Legal Studies, Public Service & Education Date: July 23, 2026 General Summary: Middlesex Community College is seeking qualified and passionate adjunct faculty to teach Business courses - including Entrepreneurship, General Business, and Marketing - within the College's Prison Education Program (PEP) at the Billerica House of Correction, offered in partnership with the Middlesex Sheriff's Office. This position is exclusively in-person, with all instruction delivered on-site at the correctional facility. Course assignments are based on enrollment and program needs. The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering curriculum that aligns with program standards, workforce needs, and transfer pathways, while adapting instruction to the correctional education environment. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a growing program that supports incarcerated students pursuing academic and career advancement through business education. Duties and Responsibilities: Teaching and Curriculum Development: Teach Entrepreneurship, General Business, and/or Marketing courses exclusively in person at the Billerica House of Correction. Deliver instruction and course materials, assignments, and assessments in a format appropriate to the correctional facility's technology and resource limitations. Ensure curriculum alignment with Massachusetts state standards, program requirements, and transfer pathways to four-year institutions. Implement engaging instructional strategies that support diverse learning styles and adult learners. Integrate culturally responsive and inclusive teaching practices into course content and classroom instruction. Provide timely feedback and academic support to promote student success and retention. Maintain accurate course records, grading, and attendance in accordance with college policies. Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in business, entrepreneurship, and marketing education. Student Support and Program Collaboration: Support students with academic guidance related to coursework, career pathways, and certificate or degree completion. Communicate regularly with program leadership regarding curriculum alignment and instructional needs. Comply with all facility security protocols and check-in procedures required for each visit to the Billerica House of Correction. Participate in departmental meetings, professional development opportunities, and assessment activities as appropriate. Represent the program's commitment to equity, access, and student-centered teaching. Requirements: Master's degree or higher in Business, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, or a closely related field. Experience teaching or working in business, entrepreneurship, or marketing settings. Ability to teach exclusively in person and to complete required security clearance and facility check-in procedures. Strong communication and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications : Prior college-level teaching experience. Experience teaching in correctional education or other nontraditional educational settings. Experience teaching adult or nontraditional student populations. Additional Information: Salary Range: DCE adjunct faculty members are paid in accordance with the DCE salary step schedule which is as follows: Step 1- $1,397 per credit Step 2 - $1,487 per credit Step 3 - $1,585 per credit Step 4 - $1,688 per credit Location: Off Campus Location at the Billerica House of Correction; may also be required to attend meetings on the Lowell and Bedford Campuses as needed.
