We're seeking a visionary, effective, and authentic leader who connects deeply with our purpose, our teams and the communities we serve. As CEO, you'll lead Easterseals Northern California (ESNorCal) with both vision and hands-on guidance, working every day to make a meaningful difference for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. ESNorCal is a direct care provider that is part of a Family of Companies comprising four entities –Catalight (parent company), Catalight Care Services (provider network manager), Easterseals Northern California (direct care provider), and Easterseals Hawaii. The CEO reports to the Executive Vice President, Operations of Catalight. While not a direct reporting relationship, the CEO owns the relationship with the board of directors and is responsible for board communications and partnership.

  • Set Vision and Strategic Direction: Define ESNorCal's vision and strategic direction, ensuring they align with Catalight's big bets and strategic goals, and that the organization evolves to meet the needs of our community. This includes identifying new opportunities for growth and impact.
  • Empower High-Performing Teams: Cultivate a vibrant, supportive, and high-performing culture, attracting and retaining top talent. Empower staff, foster collaboration, and ensure teams have the resources they need to excel and thrive. Lead needed change management efforts, participate in and support all professional growth initiatives, and help drive a culture that values reflection and learning as steppingstones to greater impact.
  • Drive Operational Excellence: Guide the collective effort of FoC cross-functional teams to develop and execute ESNorCal's annual plan as per the budget, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and the highest quality of service delivery. Ensure the delivery of effective and efficient programs and services that support both the participants and their families, and staff delivering those services.
  • Ensure Sustainable Growth: Manage the organization's financial health, secure resources, and cultivate strong donors and funding relationships to ensure the long-term sustainability and expansion of our vital programs. Construct and execute the strategy to facilitate targeted development through grants and other community resources.
  • Partner with the Board of Directors: Facilitate ESNorCal board meetings and attend committee meetings. Build effective working relationships with board members.
  • Advocate for Our Mission & Values: Serve as the chief advocate for our organization, representing us to stakeholders, policymakers, and the public. This involves building strong relationships and effectively and authentically communicating our purpose in a way that inspires others to join us on our journey.
  • Innovate for Greater Impact: Foster an environment of continuous improvement and innovation, exploring new programs, services, and partnerships that push the boundaries of what's possible in disability services.
  • Drive Company-Wide Alignment: Participate in FoC leadership team activities to drive company-wide alignment and participate in the development and communication of a shared company-wide vision.

Key Responsibilities

The CEO is responsible for the overall success of the organization, ensuring alignment with the mission, driving financial performance, and fostering a high-performing culture.

1. Strategy, Vision, and Mission Execution

  • Define and articulate the long-term vision and corporate strategy in partnership with the Board of Directors, specifically tailored to the dynamic nature of the healthcare services we deliver or need to contemplate within the markets we serve.
  • Lead the organization in developing, implementing, and monitoring annual strategic goals that ensure sustainable growth and mission fulfillment.
  • Ensure that all operational plans, services, and investments are aligned with the company's core values and strategic direction.
  • Tell the company's story effectively to all internal and external stakeholders—including employees, funding sources, and the public—to drive engagement and brand recognition.

2. Financial Performance and Fiscal Management

  • Establish aggressive yet achievable financial performance expectations and targets for revenue growth, profitability, and return on investment (ROI).
  • Oversee the development and management of the annual operating budget and capital expenditure plans, ensuring responsible resource allocation and fiscal discipline across the organization.
  • Ensure the integrity of financial reporting and the maintenance of a strong internal control environment.

3. Board Governance and Stakeholder Relations

  • Communicate proactively, transparently, and comprehensively with the Board of Directors on the company's performance, strategy execution, risks, and opportunities.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, funders, and industry leaders.

4. Team Building and Organizational Leadership

  • Build, develop, and mentor a diverse, high-caliber leadership team that can execute the strategy effectively.
  • Set the tone for the company culture, promoting accountability, innovation, compliance, and clinical excellence throughout the organization.
  • Oversee talent management initiatives to attract, retain, and develop employees in accordance with the strategic needs of the company.
