Day to Day

This role focuses on Relevance Intelligence that is measuring and improving how well Indeed matches job seekers to the relevant jobs. It is the signal that powers ranking, sourcing, bidding, and quality measurement, and it's one of the most experiment-heavy domains at Indeed.

You'll own analyses end to end: framing the question, defining success metrics and guardrails, running experiments, separating real causal effect from noise, and building the LLM-as-a-judge systems that measure relevance at scale. We're looking for someone who loves statistics itself: experimentation, causal inference, and metric development are central to the work; and who wants that rigour to directly shape what millions of job seekers experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee data-driven initiatives that uncover opportunities to improve product performance and business outcomes.

• Design and execute advanced analyses, experiments, and machine learning models to address complex product and business questions.

• Partner with product and engineering teams to define metrics, track performance, and inform both short- and long-term product strategies.

• Mentor and guide other data scientists, fostering best practices in methodology, modeling, and analytical thinking.

• Collaborate across teams to influence decisions with clear, compelling insights and visualizations tailored to diverse audiences.

• Contribute to the development of tools, techniques, and processes that enhance the efficiency and impact of the data science team.

• Serve as a recognized technical resource in the organization, helping solve high-impact problems and advising on analytic approaches.

Skills/Competencies

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience; or a PhD without experience

• Loves thought-provoking assignments and is eager to learn.

• Expertise in A/B testing and experimentation is required

• Solid foundation in data science methods and technologies.

• Able to influence technical direction and contribute to long-term planning.

• Able to work effectively with other teams and mentor colleagues.

Salary Range Transparency

Tier 1 - United States of America $125,000 - $187,000 USD per year

Tier 2 - United States of America $138,000 - $208,000 USD per year

Tier 3 - United States of America $152,000 - $228,000 USD per year

Tier 4 - United States of America - N/A

Tier 5 - United States of America $173,000 - $259,000 USD per year

Salary Range Disclaimer

The salary range for this role reflects the minimum and maximum compensation for the role. Offers are typically made between the range minimum and the range midpoint. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, and expertise, as evaluated during the interview process. The range(s) listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), a Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits. Compensation may also vary based on where a role is performed, as work locations are grouped into geographic pay tiers to reflect cost of labor differences in different geographic markets.
