Manufacturing EngineerThe Manufacturing Engineer supports precision machining and assembly operations by developing tooling, fixturing, and process improvements that enhance quality, efficiency, and production output. This role collaborates closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to implement automation, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and support new product introductions. The position focuses on process development, equipment evaluation, preventive maintenance and calibration programs, and optimizing manufacturing workflows in a high-precision environment.ResponsibilitiesDevelop new tooling, fixtures, and processes for machining and assembly operations with a strong focus on quality, efficiency, and repeatability.Design and implement fixturing solutions that support precision machining and assembly requirements.Create, document, and refine manufacturing procedures for machining and assembly functions to improve consistency and throughput.Support daily operational needs of in-house automated treatment lines, ensuring reliable and efficient performance.Develop calibration procedures and documentation for production and inspection equipment to maintain accuracy and compliance.Create preventative maintenance procedures and documentation to support equipment reliability and minimize downtime.Lead 5S and workplace organization initiatives to create more efficient, safe, and ergonomic workspaces for assembly and inspection operations.Implement and support automated inspection systems, working closely with cross-functional teams to integrate them into existing processes.Evaluate, recommend, and support the integration of automation solutions, including inspection systems and other automated equipment.Collaborate with outside vendors for capital equipment procurement, including specifying requirements and supporting installation and integration.Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to support new product introductions and process changes in a precision machining environment.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing quality, reducing waste, and increasing overall production efficiency.Ensure manufacturing processes and documentation align with relevant quality standards, including AS9100, where applicable.Essential Skills1–3 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline, ideally with exposure to mechanical or machine design.Experience with process improvement in machining and assembly environments.Hands-on experience developing tooling and fixturing for machining and assembly operations.Proficiency with CAD design for tooling and fixturing (such as SolidWorks or similar CAD software).Demonstrated ability to develop and document manufacturing procedures focused on quality and efficiency.Experience supporting or integrating automation solutions, including inspection systems, into manufacturing processes.Ability to develop calibration and preventative maintenance procedures and related documentation.Experience leading or participating in 5S or similar workplace organization and continuous improvement initiatives.Familiarity with working in a precision machining environment and collaborating with cross-functional engineering and production teams.Understanding of quality management systems and standards such as AS9100.Additional Skills & QualificationsMechanical or Machine Design experience supporting manufacturing processes.Experience implementing automated inspection systems in a production environment.Exposure to automation integration as a regular part of day-to-day engineering activities.Experience working with outside vendors for capital equipment specification, procurement, and integration.Exposure to aerospace, medical, automotive, or industrial manufacturing applications.Interest in continuous improvement, innovation, and the use of modern manufacturing technologies.Work EnvironmentThis is an onsite, Monday–Friday role based on a modern, state-of-the-art campus in Connecticut.
