EHS Manager

BAC is ona journeyto achieve EHSexcellence globally, regionally, and at eachmanufacturing site.As a member of thePlantLeadership Team, Dayton’s EHS Manager is responsible for ensuring the organization’s continued compliance with EHS regulations, policies, and standards while ensuring the organization has effectiveEHSmanagement programs to manage risk and ensure a safe,healthy, and compliantworkplace.Candidates for this position must be capable of leading and managingEHS programs, building relationships at all levels of the organization, and promoting a work environment that values open communication, positive networking, and continuous EHS improvement. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Develop, implement, and maintain site EHS standards, processes, and programs, including(but not limitedto)machine safeguarding, hazardous energy control, fall protection, crane safety,personal protective equipment,fire prevention,emergency response,electrical safety, powered industrial trucks,ergonomics,confined space entry, hazardous material handling, industrial hygiene,contractor safety,hot work,behavior-based safety,risk management,job hazards assessment,waste management, stormwater pollution prevention, and air and wastewaterpermit compliance. Lead the siteIncident managementprogramwhich includes(but is not limited to)incident reporting,investigation, determination and tracking of corrective actions,communicationof investigation results, and monitoring of the program for continuous improvement. Develop and maintain an EHS awareness and training program to ensure employees are qualified and capable of working safely and in compliance with applicable regulations. Conduct routine inspections to assess equipment, hazards, and environmental conditions. Communicate findings and corrective actionsto the appropriate partiesand track to completion. Monitorand reportthe status ofkeyEHSperformance indicatorsto the plant leadership team. Recommend actionsand/or estrategias to address any performance gaps or address emerging needs. Collaborate with regional and global EHS leaderstosharebest practicesand identify opportunities for improvement. Lead site efforts related to environmental sustainabilityincluding data collection, reporting, and achieving continuous improvements (e.g., reduction is water usage, waste generation, and greenhouse gas emissions). Ensure accurate and timely reporting of the monthly sustainability KPI’s. Proactivelycommunicateimprovement actions/projects with other facility sustainability coordinators. Reviewnewand/or modified equipment, processes,products, raw materials, or servicesto identifyhazards,any adverse environmental effects,and required controls.Obtain new and/or modified environmental permits orregistrations,as necessary. Complete required environmental reports including (but not limited to) SARA 312/313 reports,air emission inventories, biennial hazardous waste reports, discharge monitoring reports,andpollution prevention reports. Complete required environmental monitoring (e.g., storm waterand/or wastewater dischargemonitoring,waste profiling). Develop systems to ensure sitecompliancewith legal and otherapplicable EHSrequirements(e.g., BAC and/or Amsted). Create and maintainpositive relationships with local and state regulatory officials. Performanyother duties assigned by theGeneral Manager, Global Manager of EHS, or an Operations Executive. Acquire agood working knowledge ofsiteoperationswhile serving as a contributing member of theSite Leadership Team. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS B.S. degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science,Engineeringor equivalent. Minimum of5years demonstrated EHS experience in a heavy-manufacturing environmentwith a minimum of2years ofleadership experience. Knowledge ofOSHA regulatory requirements for critical safety programs such ashazardous energy control, fall prevention, confined space, electrical safety, powered industrial trucks, crane safety, material handling, fall prevention, hearingand respiratoryprotection,machinesafeguarding, hazards communication and OSHArecordkeeping. Knowledge ofenvironmentalregulatory requirements such asair, wastewater, stormwater, and hazardous waste management (i.e., permitting, reporting, and compliance). Ability tolead teams,manageprograms, and projects. Ability to analyze workload, assign priorities, maintain focus,and achieveresults. Ability to maintaina positive outlook, managestress,and workconstructively under pressure. Demonstrated ability to establish trust, relationships, and createa climate that fosters personal investment and excellence. Demonstrated ability to recognize when a decision needs to be made,act in a timely manner,andcommunicate decisions effectively while closing the loop to ensure decisions are acted upon. Demonstrated ability to employ analytical techniques and conduct root cause analysis. Effective communication skills (i.e.,writtenand oral). Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. NATURE & SCOPE This position reports to thePlant Managerwith a dotted line responsibility to the Corporate GlobalEHSManager.The position also works closely with thesite employees and leadersin a hands-on capacity related to continuous improvement, corrective actions and problem solving.This position may have up to one direct report. WORKING CONDITIONS The working conditions are those typical of a manufacturing environment.The regular working hours are Monday through Friday - dayshift butthe rolerequiresavailability for all shifts and weekends for periodic meetings, trainings, or incidentresponse.Travelmay beup to 10%.Additionally, the position will require an individual to occasionallylift upto25 pounds, work in a variety of positions to perform inspection and training activities while working in both an office and manufacturing (plant) environment.
