POSITION SUMMARY

The Lab Technician plays an important role in supporting treatment services through accurate and timely urinalysis screening and laboratory processes. The Lab Technician is responsible for processing laboratory collections from TPC Wellness locations, maintaining laboratory standards and documentation, communicating results to appropriate clinical and medical leadership, and ensuring laboratory activities are conducted in accordance with applicable CLIA standards and organizational policies .

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, organization, confidentiality, communication, and a commitment to providing trauma-responsive care.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Demonstrate and adhere to the mission, values, policies, and ethical standards of TPC Wellness.
• Maintain and document laboratory temperature and humidity according to applicable CLIA requirements.
• Monitor and document the status of laboratory safety equipment in accordance with applicable standards.
• Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and consumables and coordinate ordering with the Operations Manager.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of laboratory analyzer equipment as required.
• Maintain an accurate and current roster of individuals served.
• Properly enter individuals served into the Laboratory Information System.
• Accurately document urinalysis screening results in the Electronic Health Record.
• Complete a minimum of two urinalysis screens per week, or as assigned based on operational needs.
• Coordinate and oversee the appropriate transportation and handling of laboratory collections.
• Promptly notify Program Directors and designated medical personnel of positive screening results in accordance with organizational procedures.
• Coordinate with designated confirmation laboratories and prepare specimens for confirmation testing when required.
• Maintain appropriate documentation related to laboratory collections and testing.
• Keep the laboratory area clean, organized, sanitary, and compliant with applicable standards.
• Maintain confidentiality of protected health information and laboratory results.
• Communicate effectively with clinical, medical, administrative, and operational team members.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Active CDCA certification required.
• Previous laboratory services experience in a behavioral health, substance use disorder, healthcare, or related setting preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately maintain records.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse team and individuals served.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining established procedures and standards.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
• Commitment to ethical standards, trauma-responsive care, empathy, dignity, and respect.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
