Data Engineer

The Woodland Trust is looking for a Data Engineer to help us manage our data, keep our systems running smoothly and support with the integration of our new Dynamics 365 CRM solution. The Role: Monitor the data engineering support board for incoming queries and move to resolution. Write and create SQL scripts, queries, views, indexes and optimisations. Document data flows and solutions and undertake analytical tasks making sure data is up to date. Model data sources using techniques such as Data Flow Diagrams, Entity Relationship Diagrams, Schema Mappings and DDL. Undertake data extractions, transformations, loading (ETL), testing, unit, integration and smoke. This is a hybrid position with a mix of home working, and from our head office in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Head office attendance would be required no more than once a month on average. The Candidate: Experience working as a data engineer or a similar data focused role. Experience of cloud-based data platforms and tooling particularly in Azure. Knowledge of SQL query authoring using MS SQL and Azure SQL. Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work closely with a range of stakeholders. Experience of scripting language such as Python, R, BASH/Shell, JavaScript. Knowledge of Rest API’s. Experience integrating with Dynamics 365 into data warehouse. Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate complex data terminology to a variety of stakeholders within the organisation. Experience using data modelling techniques such as OOD and DFD’s.
