Vice President - Data Risk Lead Analyst - Operational Risk Management (Hybrid)

Overview Individuals in Operational Risk establish and manage operational risk policies, propose strategies, and governance processes designed to minimize losses from inadequate controls, fraud, and potential bankruptcy. They supervise technology operational risk, cyber risk, and fraud risk, and develop tools and infrastructure that support fraud monitoring and prevention. Using advanced analytical and statistical skills, they identify policy gaps and recommend changes to current policies, protecting the company’s financial stability and reputation while contributing to overall business resilience. Responsibilities Support the development and implementation of the Data Governance Policy, procedures, and various standards/methodologies and monitor their effectiveness and adoption. Review and challenge the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies and control measures implemented by the first line of defense. Assess data risks within the business to ensure acceptable risk appetite and identify vulnerabilities. Oversee business risk profile, compliance to policy and strategy, governance structures, risk taxonomy, data risk appetite, issue management, controls framework, and metrics. Provide regular and detailed reports to senior management and stakeholders on data risk status, metrics, and assurance review outcomes. Analyze data to identify trends or emerging risks and recommend risk mitigation. Review documentation, provide feedback and enhancement suggestions, or request additional information. Ensure all data risk management activities comply with internal policies, external regulations, and industry standards. Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry best practices to assess impacts on data risk management and support remediation. Promote a culture of risk awareness and accountability, escalating data risks as appropriate and collaborating with stakeholders for preventive measures. Support internal and external audits and regulatory examinations as applicable. Assist in monitoring and reviewing aspects of data programs, including data concerns, issues, metrics, architecture tooling, enterprise data, EUCs, data quality, and controls. Qualifications 6-10 years of experience in risk management, compliance, governance, risk remediation, or controls-related roles. Strong understanding of data risk principles, strategies, industry standards, data quality, security, metadata, and basic tooling architecture. Track record of effectively assessing and managing competing priorities. Knowledge of IT systems, networks, cloud services, operating models, and system vulnerabilities. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards related to data risk. Exposure to enterprise risk management frameworks and risk reporting tools and techniques. Understanding of different risk types (credit, market, liquidity). Experience with issue management (KPI/KRI/Corrective Action Plans) and risk appetite pathways. Intermediate knowledge of risk controls, data analysis, risk identification, management reporting, risk remediation, policy adherence, and data quality. Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with ability to collaborate across the organization. Comfortable in dynamic environments, adaptable to change while maintaining focus on risk management objectives. High level of integrity and professionalism with ability to handle sensitive and confidential information. Analytical mindset with ability to dissect complex data, engage strategically, and interpret large data volumes. Capacity to operate with limited supervision. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Education Bachelor’s or University degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Additional Qualifications Proficiency in data analytics and visualization using SQL, Python, R, and Tableau for mining, visualization, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling. Prior experience in financial services performing quantitative data analysis, risk analytics, and implementation of analytically driven risk management approaches. Ability to analyze data for patterns and trends, and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders and senior management. Experience applying AI-assisted tools to improve analysis efficiency and generate insights. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for data analysis, governance presentations, and technical documentation. Benefits Full‑time salary range: $103,920.00 – $155,880.00.
