Registered Nurse – PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to infant, pediatric, and adolescent patients in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit setting, managing diagnoses including respiratory distress/failure, DKA, seizures, pain management, and sepsis
• Manage patients requiring moderate sedation, continuous drips, arterial lines, central lines, and PICC lines
• Care for ventilated pediatric patients and manage acute airways, including BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and chest tube management
• Perform dysrhythmia interpretation and management, ABG interpretation, and ICP monitoring
• Administer anti-seizure medications, continuous sedation, IV vasopressors, and perform pediatric dosage calculations
• Float to NICU and Pediatrics units based on facility needs, within scope of practice

Required Qualifications

• Valid Maryland RN license or Compact RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• BLS/BCLS certification required
• PALS certification required
• Basic EKG Exam required
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic health records required
• Local candidates are welcome and accepted

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with ventilators and high-flow nasal cannula in a pediatric setting
• Familiarity with caring for patients requiring ICP monitoring and acute airway management
• Comfort with a high weekend commitment — travelers are expected to be scheduled for 5 weekends within each 6-week schedule
