Our Buffalo office is seeking an Environmental Technician to join the team. This position offers a variety of experience within a professional design firm. If you're a problem solver with a proactive attitude, and comfortable working independently in dynamic environments like construction sites, then you would make a great fit.

What You'll Do

• Conduct building inspections, collect samples of asbestos, PCB-containing materials, and lead-based paint, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Prepare comprehensive reports, including daily project log, sample location drawings, photographs, chain-of-custody forms, and lab data.
• Deliver samples daily to the laboratory for analysis.
• Oversee the actions of the asbestos abatement contractor.
• Lead the project closeout process by compiling final reports that meet client expectations.

Who You Are

• New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) certified. Watts will pay for the (40 hour, 5-day) training class & the fee to become NYSDOL certified.
• College degree or some college preferred.
• Need reliable transportation.
• You're available for short-duration overnight travel across New York State.
• Physically fit, pass the OSHA physical and wear a respirator.
• Need to be able to climb stairs and carry equipment (20-30 lbs.)
• You see problems and help identify solutions. You're driven to problem solve.
• You work independently in non-traditional work environments and construction sites
• You're able to interact with all different people and client reps, from state regulatory agencies to construction contractors, and building occupants.
• You thrive on your feet, easily carrying equipment through project sites, and enjoy interacting with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• You have strong initiative, clear communication skills, and the ability to adapt to various challenges.
• Experienced with Microsoft Suite and proficient in Word, Outlook, and Excel.
