VP / Associate Director, Investment Operations - Mortgage/Structured Credit (New York)

Financial advisory firm in NYC is hiring a VP / Associate Director, Investment Operations to take ownership of the firm's trade support and investment operations function.

Responsibilities

• Own and oversee the end-to-end trade lifecycle from trade execution and booking through confirmation, settlement, reconciliation, and resolution of breaks.
• Support trading activity across RMBS, CMBS, Agency and non-Agency MBS, whole loans, futures, options, swaps, REITs, and ETFs .
• Establish and document daily investment operations processes and controls in preparation for the fund launch and ongoing business operations.
• Lead the implementation and configuration of the firm's order management/trade capture systems (OMS) and related operational workflows.
• Coordinate with prime brokers, fund administrators, outsourced operations teams, custodians, and other critical service providers.
• Oversee trade reconciliations, settlement activity, exceptions, breaks, and operational issues, ensuring timely resolution.
• Support the operational lifecycle of derivatives, including trade execution, clearing, ISDA documentation, and collateral management.
• Develop processes for organizing, analyzing, and managing large amounts of investment and trade data.
• Partner closely with portfolio management and trading to ensure accurate trade booking, position management, reporting, and operational controls.
• Lead UAT, systems enhancements, and process improvements as the platform develops.
• Identify operational risks and implement appropriate controls, procedures, and documentation.
• Serve as a hands-on resource who can troubleshoot issues, improve processes, and step in wherever needed in a growing organization.
• Work closely with the firm's COO and resources as they establish and scales its investment operations infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in investment operations, trade support, middle office, or a related function within asset management, hedge funds, investment banking, or a similar financial institution.
• Strong understanding of the trade lifecycle from execution through settlement and reconciliation .
• Demonstrated experience with mortgage and structured fixed-income products , particularly RMBS, CMBS, Agency and non-Agency MBS, and/or whole loans.
• Understanding of derivatives, including futures, options, swaps, clearing, ISDAs, and collateral management.
• Experience working with an OMS, trade capture system, or similar investment technology platform .
• Experience designing, implementing, or improving operational workflows and controls.
• Strong data-management and analytical skills, including experience working with large datasets and databases.
• Experience working with prime brokers, fund administrators, custodians, outsourced operations teams, and/or other third-party service providers.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
