Job Title: Lead Service Electrician

 

Overview:

As a Lead Service Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures in various residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Your role is crucial in ensuring electrical systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant codes and standards.

 

Responsibilities:

1. Installation: Install electrical systems, wiring, and fixtures according to blueprints, specifications, and local electrical codes. This includes outlets, switches, lighting fixtures, circuit breakers, and distribution panels.
2. Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety. This may involve inspecting wiring, testing electrical components, and replacing or repairing defective parts.
3. Repair: Troubleshoot electrical problems and determine the root cause of malfunctions. Repair or replace faulty wiring, switches, outlets, and other components as needed to restore functionality.
4. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and hazards. Ensure that all electrical work meets relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations, such as the National Electrical Code (NEC).
5. Testing and Inspection: Conduct testing and inspections of electrical systems to identify potential issues or areas of improvement. Use specialized equipment to measure voltage, current, and resistance, and make adjustments as necessary.
6. Blueprint Interpretation: Interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to plan and execute installation projects accurately. Coordinate with other tradespeople and contractors to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with overall building construction.
7. Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with customers to understand their electrical needs, provide recommendations, and address any concerns or questions they may have. Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
8. Documentation: Keep detailed records of electrical work performed, including diagrams, schematics, and maintenance logs. Ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date for future reference and regulatory compliance.
9. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other electricians, apprentices, and contractors to complete projects efficiently and on schedule. Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members as needed.
10. Continued Education: Stay informed about advancements in electrical technology, regulations, and best practices through ongoing training and professional development opportunities. Maintain relevant certifications and licenses as required by local authorities.

 

Qualifications:

• Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Journeyman Electrician license or certification required preferred
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints and schematics.
• Strong understanding of electrical principles, codes, and safety practices.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and climbing.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
