Doss Health Clinic, Psychiatry Services, on Schofield Barracks, HI.This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.The Island of Oahu in Hawaii is often nicknamed (or translated as) "The Gathering Place". It is currently the most populated Hawaiian Island. The city of Honolulu is the largest city, state capital, and main deep water marine port for the State of Hawaii. As a jurisdictional unit, the entire island of Oahu is in Honolulu County, although as a place name, Honolulu occupies only a portion of the southeast end of the island. Well-known features found on Oahu include Waikiki, Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, Hanauma, Kane'ohe Bay, Kailua Bay, North Shore, and the resort destination, Ko'Olina.Oahu is also known for having the longest rain shower in history, which lasted for 200 consecutive days. The weather during the winter is cooler, but still warm with an average temperature of 68-78 °F (20-26 °C).Working for the Department of Defense comes with an abundance of benefits and perks to include competitive compensation packages, paid-time off, medical benefits, student loan repayments, and retirement package with Thrift Savings Plan to include matching employer contributions.ResponsibilitiesMAJOR DUTIES:Provide treatment services including inpatient, consultation liaison services, partial hospitalization, day programs, emergency psychiatric services, tele-psychiatric services, routine/intensive outpatient services.Develop treatment plans and provide appropriate therapeutic treatment services that may include medication management, various individual therapy modalities, and group therapy.Monitor treatment through evidence-based medicine and alters course of treatment providing follow-up care for adult patients with mental health and behavioral disorders.Prescribe appropriate pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatment.Collaborate with physicians in other medical specialties on cases involving rare, complicated, and multifaceted cases that require advanced treatments.Provide professional consultation, supervision, and collaborative medical support to other professional staff such as psychologists, advanced practice nurses, social workers, and other healthcare providers.Serve as member of local Medical Evaluation Boards for assessment and determination of duty.Conduct training and provides supervision over psychiatric residents, interns, medical students, psychology interns, and other medical and mental health trainees.Makes recommendations on improvement of work methods and organizational features while serving on committees or working groups that review and establish new treatment guidelines or updates policy for mental health across the service component.Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) functions, performance improvement programs, risk management programs, and peer review programs.Serve as member of the professional medical staff and provides advisory and consultative services on various local and national meetings, committees, conferences, and/or boards.PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNEDQualificationsWho May Apply: US CitizensIn order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Additional information about transcripts is in this document.Basic Requirement for Physician (Psychiatry):Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must have provided education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts or proof of foreign equivalency with your application package.)Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training.In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:Residency, Experience, and Training: Applicants must have successfully completed the required accredited residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled (Psychiatry) and equivalent experience and training equal to at least 4 years. Experience may not be substituted for residency training that is required for the specialty identified.If you are selected for a Physician position: A salary quote will not be provided to you at the time of the initial job offer. The salary determination process begins after the initial job offer is accepted. This consists of the Activity Compensation Panel adding base pay and market pay to determine your starting salary and this will be provided to you once approved.
