About the Role:

The Nurse Practitioner in a Gastroenterology Office plays a critical role in delivering specialized healthcare services focused on the digestive system and related disorders. This position involves comprehensive patient assessment, diagnosis, and management of gastrointestinal conditions, ensuring high-quality care tailored to individual patient needs. Minimum Qualifications:

• Current and valid Nurse Practitioner license in the United States.
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a recognized certifying body (e.g., ANCC or AANP).
• Experience or clinical training in gastroenterology or related specialty.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous work experience in a gastroenterology clinical setting.
• Advanced certification in gastroenterology nursing or related specialty.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems commonly used in gastroenterology practices.
• Experience with patient education and counseling specific to gastrointestinal diseases.
• Additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough patient histories and physical examinations focused on gastrointestinal health.
• Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests such as endoscopies, lab work, and imaging studies.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with conditions like GERD, IBS, Crohn’s disease, and liver disorders.
• Provide patient education on disease management, medication adherence, and lifestyle changes to support digestive health.
• Collaborate with gastroenterologists and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity.
• Document patient encounters accurately and maintain up-to-date medical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay current with advances in gastroenterology through continuing education.
