Design Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY: Develops customer concepts and prepares files for manufacturing, works with development department to assure designs are properly documented. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Develop project objectives by reviewing customer job files Determine project schedule by calculating time requirements Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems Prepare model and drawings for manufacturing department Accountable for the successful completion of engineering projects Ensure effective engineering and customer communications Maintain product and company reputation by complying with federal ITAR regulations ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Assume other responsibilities as required PRIMARY PERFORMANCE PARAMETERS: Meet the required delivery dates for all assigned jobs Meet customer delivery requirements Meet quality requirements of all assigned processes Conduct all operations in a safe manner QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: A genuine belief in continuous improvement and disciplined processes and a willingness to analyze, challenge and change processes, if needed, to create a more efficient environment and culture. Organizational and time management skills Good written and verbal communication skills Self-starter with ability to multi-task and prioritize work day/projects independently Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Computer literate (Solidworks, Cadkey, Windows, MS office, E-mail, Internet) Knowledge of Unigraphics a plus EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and/or 5 years of experience with advanced knowledge, obtained usually through a combination of experience and continuing education CERTIFICATION/LICENSE REQUIRED: Valid Driver's license PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
