Certified Nurse Midwife

A mission-driven healthcare organization in Northwest Indiana, near Valparaiso , is seeking a full-time Certified Nurse Midwife to join a collaborative team of nurse midwives and physicians.

This permanent position combines outpatient women’s health with hospital-based maternity care. The organization offers a flexible full-time schedule, a strong referral network, onsite specialty support, and a collegial clinical environment focused on high-quality, compassionate care.

Job Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Provide comprehensive antepartum and postpartum care.
• Evaluate and manage patients throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period.
• Attend and manage deliveries within the scope of nurse-midwifery practice.
• Divide time between an outpatient clinic and hospital setting.
• Round daily on post-delivery patients.
• Perform annual wellness examinations, Pap smears, and breast examinations.
• Educate patients on pregnancy, labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, preventive health, and family wellness.
• Coordinate care with physicians, nurse midwives, nursing staff, and onsite specialists.
• Develop strong relationships with patients, families, referring providers, and the surrounding community.
• Practice within the ethical, clinical, and professional framework of a faith-based healthcare organization.

Schedule

• Full-time, permanent position.
• Flexible full-time schedule.
• Time divided between outpatient clinic and hospital care.
• Daily rounding on post-delivery patients.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree required.
• Current Nurse Midwife license.
• Current Registered Nurse license.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Minimum of 5 years of staff RN experience in Labor and Delivery.
• Current nurse-midwifery clinical background.
• Strong clinical judgment and commitment to clinical excellence.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, midwives, nurses, and specialty providers.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a patient-centered approach to care.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in a physician office or outpatient clinical setting.
• Experience providing both outpatient and hospital-based women’s health services.
• Interest in developing long-term ties with the medical staff and surrounding community.
