Senior Equity Analyst

Overview FirstWave Capital is launching October 2025 as a long/short hedge fund with approximately $400+ million AUM. The firm seeks a generalist Equity Research Analyst to contribute to a research-driven approach focused on undervalued growth companies with strong fundamentals and meaningful catalysts. This role requires living in the Miami area or relocating within 4–6 weeks. Please do not apply if you do not meet these criteria, as applications from non-local candidates will be rejected. Responsibilities and opportunities are focused on building a rigorous, cross-sector research program to inform long and short investment decisions with the portfolio team. Key Responsibilities Conduct deep-dive fundamental research on companies across multiple sectors. Monitor and analyze information from earnings reports, SEC filings, industry publications, and other public and proprietary data sources. Build and maintain detailed financial and valuation models. Write thorough and actionable investment research reports. Regularly pitch differentiated, alpha-generating long and short investment ideas to the team. Participate in earnings calls, attend investor/industry conferences, and track relevant macroeconomic trends. Interface with investor relations teams, sell-side analysts, and industry experts to refine views. Maintain and update a watchlist of high-conviction names and potential opportunities. Collaborate with PMs and traders to align research insights with portfolio positioning. Qualifications 7+ years of experience in equity research (preferably on the buy-side). Willing to be a generalist, comfortable covering a wide range of sectors and business models. Expert-level financial modeling and valuation skills (DCF, LBO, comps, etc.). Excellent writing, presentation, and communication abilities. Deep understanding of accounting, corporate finance, and capital markets. Highly self-directed, intellectually curious, and process-oriented. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; CFA is a plus. Hedge fund experience preferred, especially long/short equity strategies. Proven ability to generate actionable investment ideas. Familiarity with financial databases and tools (Bloomberg, FactSet, CapIQ, etc.). Sector specialization is welcome, but a generalist is preferred.
