Senior Estimator

Description POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a Senior Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will price estimates, manage bids, collaborate with clients, and mentor junior staff. A strong knowledge of structural steel and estimating software is essential. Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of estimators in preparing project pricing
- Analyze Design Drawings and other Contract Documents to generate fabrication, materials, and labor estimates.
- Consult with clients, vendors and in-house personnel (in other departments) to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
- Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
- Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
- Review material and labor requirements, to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
- Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
- Establish and maintain tendering process and conduct negotiations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 3+ years prior estimating experience
- Ability to lead others in a team environment and make decisions best suited for the project
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and BlueBeam
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills and ability to communicate with those at all levels.
- Possess strong documentation skills.
- Must be highly motivated and a self-starter
- Possess analytical skills and math background
- 5+ years prior estimating experience
- Experience with Tekla EPM or other estimating software
- Experience with 3D modeling software (Tekla, Revit, Navis, SDS)
- Experience estimating steel erection and metals installation
- College Degree in engineering, construction management or related field
