Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Qualifications:

• Valid Maryland State Department of Education teaching certificate with Vision endorsement.
• Present required licensure documentation prior to start.
• Fingerprinting and background check per House Bill 486.
• Strong understanding of Braille preferred; flexibility for assignment depends on braille proficiency.
• Experience with student IEPs and a passion for empowering visually impaired students.
• Able to travel between school cluster assignments as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct vision services per IEPs in assigned schools (1-3 schools for proficient Braillists, broader caseload otherwise).
• Attend IEP meetings virtually (from district-approved settings).
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of TVIs and O&M professionals.
• Flex schedule across a close-knit school cluster.
