Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience required License: Compact or state license required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - Strong experience with wound vacs - Solid orthopedic experience - High attention to detail Description: This position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience. First-time travelers will be considered only if they have extensive experience caring for post-operative surgical patients, particularly those with orthopedic and gastrointestinal surgeries. The unit is a busy, fast-paced environment, typically receiving 10 to 20 post-operative patients each day. It primarily serves patients undergoing orthopedic, spine, general surgery, and bariatric procedures, with some overflow from medical areas when beds are available. The role includes cardiac and oxygen monitoring capabilities. Nursing requirements include both medical and surgical skillsets, and BLS certification. ACLS certification is not required. Candidates must pass an EKG exam during onboarding. Travelers may need to float to other units as needed and cannot have worked within a certain radius. Working on holidays during the winter season is expected. Experience with wound vacs and orthopedic equipment is required. Candidates must be comfortable with the high turnover rate, managing multiple admissions and discharges per shift. Compliance requirements include BLS, EKG onboarding exam, and other competency exams. Candidates are expected to have strong charting experience. Attention to detail is critical in this role.
