Foreman

Job Title: Foreman Reports to: General Superintendent FLSA Status: Exempt Summary of Responsibilities The Foreman will be responsible for directly supervising and leading specialized labor crews that perform the necessary work for their assigned project(s). The role includes consistent and proactive management of employees, equipment, safety, quality control, scheduling, planning, production, and cost control throughout the entire project lifecycle, from start‑up to completion/closeout. Taking Charge The Foreman is expected to lead with a focus on safety and quality, ensuring that work is done correctly the first time. This includes holding employees to the company’s standards of taking charge, innovation, and excellence in all day‑to‑day operations. Quality Control Perform quality control duties, create punch lists, and make timely corrections to the work. Hold team members accountable for completing work correctly and in compliance with all contract terms. Ensure all materials used meet approved submittals and project documents. Coordinate and schedule required inspections and testing with appropriate parties. Maintain an organized set of all project documents and communicate changes to the project team. Maintain daily logs and records or as‑built drawings of all activities on the jobsite. Identify, document, and enforce subcontractor compliance with safety, quality, and on‑time completion standards. Schedule & Planning Understand the contracted scope of work thoroughly. Attend and conduct pre‑construction, progress, scheduling, and project/staff meetings. Supervise crew and labor force to ensure successful completion of all assigned duties. Ensure projects are adequately staffed for on‑time completion. Manage job progress, schedules, and punch list items to achieve on‑time or early project completion. Identify conflicts or issues within construction documents and progress, and communicate them for timely resolution. Production & Budget Achieve profit goals set for work items, outperforming labor and equipment production and budgets. Attend and conduct weekly planning meetings, providing insight into schedules and progress. Coordinate, communicate, and proactively engage with project management to review work plans, progress, production reports, and identify issues and opportunities. Communicate status of project profitability, costs, quantities, and gains or losses to the project team. Evaluate project means, methods, and production, and make timely adjustments for improvement. Safety Understand all safety requirements and hold team members accountable for adherence and enforcement. Conduct weekly safety meetings onsite and daily huddles, including task hazard analysis. Training and Mentoring Actively engage on all assigned projects to monitor activities and assist in future planning. Consistently evaluate crew and team members, provide praise, and hold all accountable. Monitor and enforce all company policies as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Understanding of heavy construction, including demolition, earthwork, utilities, and concrete paving, and associated heavy equipment. Familiarity with interpretation of drawings, specifications, purchase orders, submittals, and other construction documentation. Knowledge of quantity take‑offs, production rates, crew types, and sizes. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong management and leadership skills to hold others accountable. Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Endurance and ability to traverse the entire job site, including stairs or elevated structures. Education and Experience Minimum five years of experience in the construction industry, with a preference for heavy construction. Must demonstrate an understanding of construction methods and site management. Physical Demands Works involve standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. Frequent lifting and/or moving of items over 75 pounds. Requires close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment Employees may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and extreme conditions.
