About the Role:

The Patient Services Representative plays a critical role in ensuring a seamless and positive experience for patients within healthcare settings such as physician offices and hospitals. This position is responsible for managing patient registration and billing processes accurately and efficiently, serving as the primary point of contact for patients regarding their medical insurance and billing inquiries. The role requires meticulous attention to detail to handle sensitive patient information and to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and billing standards. By facilitating clear communication between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies, the Patient Services Representative helps to optimize operational workflows and enhance patient satisfaction. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to the financial health of the organization while supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with patient registration and billing in a healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and medical insurance processes.
• Proficiency in using fax machines and basic office equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate degree or certification in medical office administration or related field.
• Experience working in a physician office or hospital billing department.
• Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare software.
• Excellent manual dexterity for handling documentation and office equipment efficiently.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to enhance patient interactions.

Responsibilities:

• Register patients by collecting and verifying personal and insurance information accurately.
• Process patient billing and payments, including handling insurance claims and resolving billing discrepancies.
• Maintain detailed and organized patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to address questions and resolve issues.
• Operate office equipment such as fax machines and electronic health record systems to facilitate documentation and communication.
