Electrical Engineer - Nuclear Power Plant

Job Summary:

The Electrical Engineer III will provide experienced electrical engineering support focused on Extended Power Uprate (EPU) projects and nuclear power plant capital modifications. This role involves engineering leadership, design oversight, regulatory compliance, and project execution support to ensure safe, reliable, and quality plant modifications. Responsibilities:

• Serve as Responsible Design Engineer (RDE) and Owner's Acceptance Reviewer for plant modification projects.
• Lead and oversee electrical engineering design activities for EPU and capital modification initiatives.
• Develop and review engineering scope, schedules, cost estimates, budgets, and design packages.
• Prepare and review single-line diagrams, elementary diagrams, wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, specifications, and power system designs.
• Perform and review engineering calculations, technical evaluations, analyses, and design change packages.
• Verify engineering deliverables for accuracy, completeness, constructability, and regulatory compliance.
• Support project implementation including installation oversight, construction support, equipment testing, startup, commissioning, system turnover, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Maintenance, Licensing, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, Construction, and Project Management.
• Coordinate with engineers, designers, drafters, and vendors to ensure successful project delivery.
• Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and project planning activities.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Promote engineering excellence and adherence to nuclear safety culture principles.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering processes, design quality, and project execution.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 6 to 10 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
• Experience in electrical power system design, preferably in commercial power generation.
• Demonstrated experience supporting nuclear power plant capital modification projects.
• Working knowledge of industry codes, standards, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance programs.
• Strong understanding of engineering design processes, design control, and configuration management.
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with nuclear power plant electrical systems including switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), protective relaying, and AC/DC power distribution.
• Experience supporting Extended Power Uprate (EPU) projects or major plant modernization initiatives.
• Expertise in preparing and reviewing engineering calculations, design analyses, specifications, and drawings.
• Knowledge of NRC regulations, Appendix B Quality Assurance requirements, nuclear design control processes, and configuration management programs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Scheduling:

• 24-month contract duration.
• Work schedule and shifts to be determined based on project requirements and plant operations.
