Job Summary Generates patient statements and other invoices Data entry, posting payments, reconciling billings and invoices, checking balances and maintaining patient files Works with insurance companies to perform insurance billing, review, and verification of accounts in accordance with program provisions Verifies eligibility and benefits, obtaining pre-authorizations, entering medical codes, requesting payments, and resolving account issues May assist with other functions of revenue cycle operations May perform accounts receivable audits and adjustments May run reports related to medical billing Qualifications Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education. Education Required High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED) Preferred Post high school courses in insurance billing, data processing, and medical terminology Work Experience Required 2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, medical billing, or related field Preferred Experience in dental insurance billing Skills Required Proficient communication skills Maintains a high degree of professionalism Demonstrates time management and priority setting skills Demonstrates a high commitment to quality Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment Highly thorough and dependable Preferred Knowledge of dental terminology Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment.
