Beer’s Robo Holsteins, LLC is a family owned and operated dairy farm near Mascoutah, IL that focuses on high quality and high production. Our family has been in the dairy business since 1965, and currently milk 220 cows with Lely robotic milking machines. We are seeking a reliable and experienced herdsman to manage daily operations for our milking herd on a progressive robotic dairy farm. The successful candidate will oversee cow health and comfort, operate and maintain robotic milking equipment, handle feeding the TMR, and support overall farm activities. This role requires a hands-on approach with both livestock and machinery in a fast paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
-Manage the milking herd, including monitoring cow traffic, health, and performance in the robotic milking system
-Operate a skid steer to load TMR mixer and deliver feed to multiple pens with tractor and TMR mixer
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting on the milking robots to ensure reliable operation and high milk quality
- Identify, treat, and monitor sick or injured animals, working closely with the veterinarian when necessary
- Support all other daily activities such as feeding calves, scraping lots/manure management, bedding, and general herd care, to assist the team as needed.
Schedule and Time off:
This position requires weekend work as part of a rotating schedule, but the successful candidate will receive one full weekend off per month. Additional days off during the month will be scheduled on weekdays. Flexibility and reliability are essential.
Five paid vacation days per year beginning after six months of employment.
The typical workday will start at 6:30 am and end at 5:00 pm. Hours may vary occasionally.
Successful candidate must have a drivers license and reliable transportation.
