Job Description
Neuro ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Neuro ICU Registered Nurse (RN) who is experienced in a Level 1 Trauma environment and possesses strong neuro assessment skills and ICP monitoring experience. The successful candidate will be joining our team committed to providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic and challenging setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients within the Neuro ICU.
• Monitor and assess patients' vital signs and neurological status.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Participate in simulations and training related to Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.
• Maintain a sterile environment during procedural tasks and adhere to strict infection control protocols.
• Assist with lifts, restraints, and wound care as part of professional development.
• Float to Medical-Surgical and Telemetry floors as needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid nursing license in the state of practice.
• Current certifications in BLS and ACLS are required.
• Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience, including at least 18 months of Neuro ICU experience.
• Experience with EVD management is essential.
• Successful completion of the DYS exam prior to acceptance is required.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
• Must have the ability to demonstrate natural hair color and remain clean-shaven for fit test requirements.

Work Schedule

This position involves 12-hour shifts, with potential for holiday and weekend rotation based on unit staffing requirements. Travelers may be placed on standby for scheduled shifts.

Additional Information

The Neuro ICU consists of 32 beds, providing care for critically ill patients with neurological diagnoses. Common procedures may include craniotomies, brain tumor removals, complex spine surgeries, and other neurosurgical interventions.

Cancellation Policy

Please note that the hospital reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment, or 3 shifts for assignments shorter than 13 weeks.
