Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Registered Nurse (RN) Morristown, New Jersey. The registered nurse in this role provides competent, patient-centered care across the continuum, performing thorough assessments, direct clinical care, and accurate documentation. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights (7:00 PM7:00 AM), 12 shift hours; minimum 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; Associate or Bachelors Degree preferred for the role; RN License required; Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required
• Preferred Qualifications: Trauma nursing experience; teaching hospital experience; prior Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience
• Responsibilities:
  • Conduct systematic, comprehensive, and accurate assessments appropriate to patient needs
  • Provide direct patient care activities that support patient care delivery and teamwork
  • Demonstrate competent clinical skills and knowledge of emergency equipment and procedures
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation, including nursing process components and patient progress toward outcomes, with patient education included
  • Demonstrate professional practice responsibilities by applying facility policies and procedures and identifying areas for clinical and professional growth
  • Provide courteous, professional communication that supports patient and family-centered care while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
  • Follow National Patient Safety Goals, including Universal Protocol and use of two patient identifiers; demonstrate safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics
  • Support perioperative team responsibilities by prioritizing care based on patient needs and changes in condition
  • Individualize patient care for surgical patients by demonstrating knowledge of conditions/diagnoses, procedures, and equipment; assess patient reaction and understanding of procedure/instructions
  • Assess patient understanding of surgical procedure/instructions and actively include patient and family members in teaching
  • Perform pre-operative and post-operative assessment and education
  • Support timely completion of patient testing by evaluating Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness and potential omissions based on proposed surgery, patient age, and current health status
• Additional Information:
  • Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) order review and support for timely completion of patient testing are core responsibilities for this role
