Position Overview
Agora Adventure seeks a dynamic and hands-on General Manager to lead our premier outdoor hospitality destination: Agora Adventure’s Riverwood Resort in Delta, Colorado.
This isn't your typical corporate hotel gig. Riverwood Resort is a hybrid property blending a thoughtfully curated boutique hotel experience with a repositioned campground. Our goal is to make Delta, Colorado an outdoor adventure hub. As General Manager, you will oversee the onsite ecosystem—from front desk operations and housekeeping to campground maintenance.
Your mission is to balance top-tier guest satisfaction with strong financial performance, all while fostering a culture that celebrates the spirit of outdoor adventure.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations & Guest Experience
- Total Property Oversight: Run daily operations across the 16-room hotel (front desk, housekeeping, guest services) and the campground (29 RV sites and bathhouse). Given the size of our property, this is a hands-on role.
- The "Agora Standard": Maintain an exceptionally high level of guest satisfaction. Actively review guest feedback and implement shifts to improve the overall stay experience.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure the entire property complies with health, safety, environmental, and local lodging regulations. Oversee emergency preparedness and risk management protocols for outdoor areas.
2. Financial Stewardship & Revenue Growth
- P&L Ownership: Take full accountability for the property's profit and loss statement, operating budgets, and capital expenditures.
- Revenue Management: Partner with marketing and revenue teams to optimize occupancy and dynamic pricing across both hotel rooms and campsites.
- Ancillary Streams: Maximize revenue from on-site retail, gear rentals, food & beverage partnerships, and curated outdoor excursions.
3. Facilities & Grounds Management
- Asset Protection: Work closely with our grounds keeper to oversee capital projects and ensure property maintenance.
- Landscaping & Aesthetics: Ensure the natural beauty of the Riverwood grounds is preserved and immaculately maintained.
4. Help Build the Agora Adventure Brand
- Processes & Procedures : document staff roles, and risk management procedures for our other property
- Underwriting New Acquisitions : play an integral role
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive management experience in hospitality. Experience managing hybrid properties (e.g., resorts, campgrounds, glamping operations, or adventure lodges) is preferred.
- Financial Acumen: understanding of hospitality accounting, P&L management, budgeting, and labor modeling.
- Tech Savvy: Familiarity with modern Property Management Systems (PMS). We are currently on ResNexus but will evaluate alternatives in the Fall.
- Leadership Style: A compassionate manager that leads by example and enjoys interacting with guests and working alongside the team.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, as outdoor hospitality thrives when the rest of the world is on vacation.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent real-world leadership experience.
