Job Title: Director/Sr. Director, Youth Education Department: Youth Education (YE) Reports To: Chief Program Officer (CPO) Supervises: Youth Education Managers FLSA Status: Exempt Pay Grade: E6 (Director)/E7 (Sr. Director) Job Type: Regular, Full-Time AKBCU: No ICPA: Yes
General Functions:
The Director/Sr. Director, Youth Education will provide leadership and vision for CITC's youth education, technology-based learning, and career-connected initiatives including Super Fab Lab in partnership with the Chief Program Officer (CPO). The Director/Sr. Director is responsible for advancing CITC's Cradle to Career framework by creating a seamless education pathway that supports participants from early learning through high school in preparation for the next stage of career readiness, workforce development and lifelong success.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership for a comprehensive, cradle-to-career education pathway — including innovative educational options that expand student choice and access— ensuring alignment, continuity, accessibility, measurable outcomes, and long-term sustainability across programs.
- Advance educational achievement and graduation outcomes through evidence-based, culturally grounded programming that promotes academic success, positive identity, leadership, wellness, and lifelong learning for Alaska Native and American Indian children and youth.
- Lead the strategic growth, expansion and innovation, and long-term sustainability of education programs to meet the evolving community needs and organizational priorities.
- Partner across departments to deliver seamless, coordinated wraparound support for youth and families — addressing educational, social, emotional, developmental, and family stability needs — that promotes academic achievement, career readiness, and self-sufficiency.
- Identify, secure, and administer funding through grants, contracts, and partnerships — ensuring compliance with federal, state, tribal, and private requirements — and monitor programmatic, financial, and outcome data to drive continuous quality improvement.
- Prepare and communicate funding, performance, and impact reports that demonstrate outcomes and return on investment to funders, partners, leadership, and stakeholders.
- Build and sustain strategic partnerships with the Anchorage School District, Alaska school districts, tribal organizations, post-secondary institutions, employers, workforce development entities and local, state and national partners to strengthen educational opportunities, expand programming and leverage resources.
- Represent CITC in local, state, and national education, workforce development, and policy initiatives, advocating for resources and equitable outcomes for Alaska Native and American Indian children, youth, and families.
- Integrate career awareness, workforce readiness, leadership development, financial capability, entrepreneurship, and skill-building opportunities to prepare youth for post-secondary education, apprenticeships, vocational training, or employment.
- Serve as CITC's lead in developing an alternative school approach designed to support Alaska Native American Indian students. Have experience or knowledge of Alaska's charter school statute (AS 14.03.250–.290) and 4 AAC 33.110 — including formation of the required academic policy committee — in coordination with the Anchorage School District Board and the State Board of Education and Early Development.
- Lead design and implementation of CITC's credit acceleration and credit recovery programming, and eventual charter operations, along with enrollment, admissions, and transfer policies.
- Recruit, hire, and supervise leadership team and administrator for alternative/ charter school.
- Direct development of charter school budgets and financial plans for state and district application review, in coordination with CITC's finance department and CEI's unrestricted revenue strategy.
- Establish strategic goals, performance measures, and accountability systems that monitor educational attainment and program effectiveness organization wide.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory report from a state and federal background check.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the social, health, educational, training, and cultural needs of the Alaska Native/American Indian community.
Director:
- Master's degree in Education, Technology, Business or a related field.
- Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in education, school administration, nonprofit leadership or a related field.
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in management or supervisory roles.
- Demonstrated experience securing and managing grants, contracts and strategic partnerships including fiscal oversight and compliance with applicable funding requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in leading strategic planning and organizational development initiatives.
Sr. Director:
- Master's degree in Education, Technology, Business or a related field.
- Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in education, school administration, nonprofit leadership or a related field.
- Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in management or supervisory roles.
- Demonstrated experience securing and managing grants, contracts and strategic partnerships including fiscal oversight and compliance with applicable funding requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in leading strategic planning and organizational development initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with charter school development, authorization processes, or alternative public-school models preferred.

- May require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and consistently working on a computer with repetitive motion.
- The need to occasionally move around the office to access filing cabinets, storage cabinets, and office equipment may be necessary.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally by utilizing proper lifting techniques and working in a safe manner.
