Residential Landscape Designer

Job Summary

A direct hire opportunity is available for a Residential Landscape Designer in Fort Collins, CO. This role is ideal for a creative, client-focused design professional with strong residential landscape design experience, technical design skills, and the ability to support sales growth through relationship building and new business development.

The Residential Landscape Designer will create custom outdoor living concepts for residential clients, using AutoCAD and SketchUp to bring designs to life. This position offers strong earning potential through uncapped commission, along with the possibility of a relocation bonus or hybrid office schedule.

Key Responsibilities

- Design residential landscape plans, outdoor living spaces, hardscapes, planting layouts, and related project concepts.
- Use AutoCAD and SketchUp to develop accurate, professional design presentations and project drawings.
- Meet with residential clients to understand goals, site conditions, budget expectations, and design preferences.
- Partner with internal teams to support project estimating, proposal development, and successful project handoff.
- Support sales efforts by building client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and helping convert leads into projects.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, responsiveness, and design quality throughout the client experience.

Compensation and Benefits

- Compensation: $65,000 to $100,000 per year.
- Base salary noted at approximately $65,000 to $75,000, plus uncapped commission potential.
- Direct hire opportunity.
- Relocation bonus or hybrid office schedule may be offered.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Create residential landscape designs for custom outdoor projects.
- Develop design drawings and presentations using AutoCAD and SketchUp.
- Work directly with homeowners to support design, sales, and project development.
- Help generate new business opportunities tied to commission-based earnings.

- Minimum of 3 years of residential landscape design experience required.
- Extensive residential landscape design background is required.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and SketchUp is required.
- Strong technology skills and ability to learn or use design and business tools effectively.
- Comfortable with a sales component, including client meetings, relationship building, and business development.
- Strong communication, presentation, and consultative client service skills.
- Ability to balance creative design, technical accuracy, and project budget considerations.
- Self-motivated, organized, and driven to grow project volume and commission earnings.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with residential design-build landscape projects.
- Knowledge of Colorado plant materials, hardscape elements, grading, irrigation, and outdoor living design.
- Strong portfolio of completed residential landscape design work.
- Ability to support both creative design and client-facing sales conversations.
