Medical Assistant Overview The Medical Assistant provides essential clinical support, including patient care, diagnostic screenings, and medication administration. Collaborates closely with healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes and care delivery. Maintains examination rooms, sterilizes equipment, and ensures compliance with healthcare standards. Documents patient information accurately in electronic medical records systems. Supports team leadership through mentoring, coaching, and teaching junior staff. Works within defined policies but exercises discretion in task prioritization and timing. Medical Assistant Key Responsibilities & Duties Discuss symptoms with patients and obtain vital signs during clinical visits. Administer medications and vaccines according to certification and guidelines. Perform phlebotomy, collect specimens, and conduct diagnostic screening tests. Ensure examination rooms are clean, organized, and ready for patient use. Collaborate with physicians and advanced practice providers for patient care planning. Document patient information accurately in electronic medical records systems. Provide leadership through mentoring and coaching team members. Adhere to healthcare policies and procedures while exercising independent discretion. Medical Assistant Job Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of MA training program preferred. Certified or Registered Medical Assistant credentials strongly preferred. CPR certification required; must comply with TB screening program. Minimum 1 year of experience required; 2+ years preferred. Experience in medication/vaccine administration and phlebotomy highly valued. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred; must pass proficiency exam.
