GERIATRIC NURSING ASSISTANT (GNA)

Position Overview XCELHome Health is seeking a Geriatric Nursing Assistant for a travel or local job in the locations identified below. Location(s) BURTONSVILLE / SPENCERVILLE / POTOMAC; MD Reporting Relationship Reports to the supervising RN/LPN and Agency Manager/Administrator. Qualifications/Prerequisites High school diploma or equivalent. Certification as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant in the state (after CNA certification and additional GNA requirements). Successful completion of state-approved GNA training and competency evaluation. Must pass background check and drug screen. Ability to perform physical caregiving tasks safely. Responsibilities/Activities Assist elderly clients with personal hygiene and grooming. Provide mobility support, transfers, and repositioning. Monitor and report physical or behavioral changes to supervising nurses. Support clients with nutrition, hydration, and feeding. Assist with toileting and incontinence care. Offer emotional support and companionship to geriatric clients. Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment. Comply with infection control, HIPAA, and agency policies. Required Skills/Abilities Compassion for elderly clients and sensitivity to aging issues. Ability to provide dignified and respectful care. Good observation and communication skills. Dependability and teamwork. Patience and adaptability in working with geriatric conditions (dementia, chronic illness, mobility challenges). Physical & Mental Demands Ability to lift, transfer, and reposition elderly clients. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
